Family Camping Holidays

Friday 09 December 2016

Camping holidays are extremely popular with families and we have a great repeat business for this type of holiday.  Essentially, famillies want lots of fun, freedom and flexibility when away on holiday!  Camp sites entertain tots to teens giving parents a chance to relax whilst kids play, make new friends and enjoy great new experiences. The key to the success of camping holidays is of course to get great value for your hard earned money.

There are a wide range of camping sites available which are located in some of the most beautiful beach, countryside, mountain and lake settings in Europe:- France, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Portugal and Holland.

This type of holiday is for families who like to be more apart of outdoors and have more flexibility and space than a hotel; whereby they have their own individual modern mobile home with facilities for grocery shopping and launderettes on site.  Most have air conditioning; private decking allowing for barbeques, Bars, Restaurants and offer a wide variety of activities to suit all tastes and ages.

Depending on location parks offer a variety of different experiences:-

Lively Resorts: Filled with fantastic pool complexes, beaches nearby, brilliant entertainment and kids’ clubs. Lots of the fun - filled sites have Splash parks with waterslides, spray parks, lazy rivers and lagoon pools and are also packed with chances to take part in activities e.g. cycling, football, tennis, volleyball, pitch and put, and aerobics…

Action-packed adventures: Explore and head off the beaten track on foot, bike, and canoe. Or how about walking trips in the Alps, canoeing in the Dordogne or horseback riding in the Camarque?

Culture Club:  Choose a camping site in one of the locations where you can immerse yourself in the heart of authentic experiences and take a day tour of a famous capital city to view cultural hotspots, historical sights and the delights of local cuisine.

Kids’ Clubs

Camping sites are renowned for their Kids’ Clubs which are run by experienced enthusiastic English speaking staff.  They include a variety of age-targeted fun, games and activities for your little ones. If travelling outside the main holiday season, check that Clubs are open as some only operate during high season e.g. Buzzy Bee Clubs runs from 30th May to 2nd September in specific Camping sites. Some clubs provide opportunities for kiddies to learn to cycle and swim, all within a fun packed environment. The process of socialisation and forming new friends is second to none - only problem may be tears when it comes to going home!

This is designed for Family fun activities throughout the month of June.

Family ZZone is designed with you in mind – do as little or as much as you want – great opportunity for kid’s and adults to make new and lasting friendships.

In 2016 FAMILY Zzone was offered in three locations La Loubine, Les Genêts, and due to its success it will return for 2017 from 5th June to 1st July– it will work in conjunction with the Buzzy Bee club which has activities in the morning from Monday to Friday.

June can be a little quieter on some resorts and in response to this Family ZZone was introduced – we don’t want you saying that you were bored, there was nothing to do and Family Zzone promises you with lots of choices:-

Sample of Activities

(from La Loubine 2016)

Group cycle from campsite to Les Sables d’Olonne market via Cycle tracks while kid’s were at club
Wine tasting at local Cave
Kid’s Disco
Movie Night
Family Quiz with loads of prizes
Family afternoon at Chateau des Aventuries
Cooking Classes

Please note:

As with Club Buzzy Bee, children must be supervised & remain under the responsibility of their parents and guardians at all times. Family Zzone is not a childcare facility and activities involve family participation. Even though clubs are free, the numbers admitted may be limited due to safety reasons. A charge may apply to certain activities. Couriers are employed to supervise activities and in the event of illness, it may not always be possible to find an immediate replacement.

Tiny Tots

Travelling with young children is no easy task and some companies offer ‘Baby Pack’ which provides a cot, high chair and stroller at your accommodation on arrival. (Baby Pack €30 or hire individually for €12 each).

Teens 13 – 17

Well we are all aware of the teenage stage – too old to be a child but too young to be an adult. Oh! the quintessential awkward age – however, camping sites overcome this.  A lot of resorts have amenities and activities especially designed for teenagers some known as Base which is a safe haven for teenagers, a parent free zone, a taste of freedom, a chance to meet other teenagers such as discos, crazy golf, archery, bike hire , volleyball, tennis and football to name a few. They have also the opportunity to go on day trips e.g.  go-karting, water parks and bowling. (Charges may apply to some of the activities)

Additional four and five star sites have been added by suppliers for camping holidays in 2016. A five star property Au Lac De Biscarrosse is described as a paradise for water lovers with the option to take a dip in the sea or avail of the site’s aquatic park. For parents there is a range of state of the art treatments and experiences in the wellness centre.

How to get there

This is back to personal preference.

Self –Drive: Some people prefer to pack up the car and set off towards the ferry for a holiday adventure. Break up a long journey e.g. to the south of France, Spain or Italy with a stopover which leaves one refreshed and free to explore somewhere new before heading off to their site. This is a budget friendly crossing with no baggage limits and flexible times to suit your plans.  Packages with overnight sailings from Ireland to France usually include a cabin and on-board play area, for kids plus cinemas.

Fly – Drive:  Fly to airport closest to your destination and take car hire for the duration of your stay. This allows for flexibility of travelling outside the site to explore surrounding areas.

Car Free Holidays: For those who prefer not to drive whilst on holiday and to totally chill out, they can get public transport links from the nearest airport or alternatively takes a private transfer to the site. This can be arranged prior to departure at reasonable rates.
